Tia Marie Soloma Ritch, 21, of Starke died suddenly Friday, July 3, 2009. Born in Gainesville, she was the daughter of Jerry Eugene and Laura Hampton Ritch and lived in the area most of her life. she was a nanny and member of Faith Bible Church in Sanderson where she also worked on the youth staff.

A white teacher in North Escambia County has been disciplined for using racial slurs in an email that referred to a black custodian as “the n” and “Miss Maid”. Meanwhile, the Pensacola Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference says that the use of the “N”-word is a problem in Escambia schools.
